StarJump – online health and fitness tracking

12 February 2008

We recently launched StarJump – www.starjump.co.nz. It is a free website for tracking health and fitness online.

StarJump allows members to record their health (e.g. weight and body dimensions) and fitness (e.g. the amount of exercise they are undertaking) online. By displaying results in graph and table format members are encouraged by their progress and are able to keep a historical record of their health and fitness.

Ultimately, StarJump aims to encourage members to do 30 minutes of physical activity per day, thus reducing the risk of developing diseases and conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity.

There are some exciting new features being added to StarJump to make it even more useful. We are currently adding a planner section. To debut this new section we have set up the HSBC Round the Bays 2008 training guides. StarJump members can add the running or walking guides then record their training progress towards the event on Sunday 16 March. Coming soon members will be able to create their own training guides and StarJump will be adding other guides for popular events. Also in development are goal and diet sections.

We believe StarJump is a first for New Zealand. There are other websites similar to StarJump overseas, however these generally require members to buy software or pay a monthly subscription.

If you have any comments or suggestions we’d love to hear from you.
